The Plockton Small Boat Sailing Club formed in 1933, hosts races throughout the year culminating in Regatta fortnight in July/August, one of the highlights of the west coast sailing calendar. Plockton is a very popular destination for tourists, with its picturesque setting on the shores of Loch Carron. The coast is warmed by the Gulf Stream and even palm trees grow on the waterfront. Just visible across the loch is Duncraig Castle, built in 1866 by Sir Alexander Matheson
