Sir Reginald MacLeod of MacLeod (1847-1935), 27th Chief of the Clan at Dunvegan Castle.

He was born at Dunvegan and educated at Harrow and Cambridge. In 1889 he became the Queen's Remembrancer (an office of the Court of the Exchequer which was originally concerned with the recovery of dues, penalties and debts owed to the Crown.) In 1900 he became Registrar General for Scotland and, two years later, was appointed Under Secretary of Scotland. He was knighted in 1905.

After unsuccessful attempts to be elected to Parliament (in 1885 and 1911) he retired from public life and became a director of Shell, the first of several directorships he held. He succeeded to the chiefship in November 1929 on the death of his brother, Norman Magnus. In 1930 he was appointed Chief of the Gaelic Society of Inverness, and in 1933, he was the first chief to open Dunvegan Castle to the public. He died in August 1935 and was succeeded by his eldest daughter, Flora
