This postcard shows a view of Tarbat House on a background of white heather and tartan. The mansion house looks over Nigg Bay, an inlet of the Cromarty Firth, to the Black Isle. It was built for Major-General Lord Macleod in 1787, to plans drawn up by James McLeran. Masonry from an earlier house was used in its construction. It was once an impressive home, with stately avenues and beautiful gardens, but has been allowed to fall into disrepair.
