location map

RAF helicopter flying over the beach at Nairn. Until 1953, there was an RAF training school at Dalcross, between Inverness and Nairn. Dalcross is now the site of Inverness airport. Another base in the area was RAF Kinloss, which opened in 1939, on the Findhorn Bay, on the Moray Firth.

Nairn has been a popular seaside resort since the arrival of the railway in the 1850s. Its climate is believed to be one of the sunniest in Scotland
