Matheson Lang was an actor, on stage and screen, as well as a writer and director. He toured the world extensively. His last film was 'The Cardinal' in 1936 and he died in Barbados in 1948.

Matheson Lang was the son of Rev Gavin Lang, minister of Glasford parish. In 1870 he transferred to Montreal, Canada, where Matheson was born on 15 May 1877. He moved to Inverness, with his family, in 1882. One of Gavin Lang's grandchildren, Cosmo Lang, became Archbishop of Canterbury
