A theatrical production of 'Rob Roy' by the Inverness Amateur Dramatic Society was a highlight of the cultural calendar in Inverness in the 1920s and 1930s.

The performances, which raised money for the Northern Infirmary, were often held in the Central Hall Picture House and the cast included several notable local characters. Baillie Nicol Jarvie's performance as Alexander Dallas was often acknowledged as a highlight as was that of his son, Donald Dallas, as Dougal Cratur. "A perpetual source of amusement", reported the Inverness Courier in March 1922.
