This photograph shows a view of the mountain Slioch towering above Loch Maree. The mountain rises 981 metres (3218 feet) on the east side of the lake and is one of the most striking sights on the west coast of the Highlands. Slioch is composed of Torridonian red sandstone, which rests on a base of Lewisian gneiss, and is very popular destination among hikers.
