Ionad Chaluim Chille Ìle (The Columba Centre, Islay), based just outside Bowmore on the island of Islay, is a Gaelic language centre aiming to promote and encourage Gaelic language and heritage. The centre also hosts the Seanchas Ìle project, an oral history project aimed at collecting and recording Islay's Gaelic heritage. The Seanchas Ìle archive consists of over 60 hours of stories, memories, songs etc collected from local Islay Gaelic speakers and is open to the public. In addition to this the centre also offers teaching rooms, library, childcare facility, meeting rooms, broadcasting facilities, computer room, exhibition space and a cafe (in the summer months only).
