My grandfather's art

By Sheila Alexander - uploaded 06/08/2012

It is 2012 and I am framing a watercolor painted by my Scots grandfather, Robert Russell, in 1957. Frail as it was, it had resided in a folder for some years and I had never turned it over. On the back is written "Sligachan amm Seurr" and beneath, "nan Gillean, Skye."

After some Googling I found the Am Baile site and was able to determine he meant to write "Sgurr." How wonderful to pull up a postcard of the place and view in his painting. I hope someday to visit this beautiful site and stand on the bridge from which he painted.
