Neil Gunn Trust

Neil Gunn, born in Caithness, was a prolific novelist. He was perhaps, one of the most influential Scottish fiction writers of the first half of the 20th Century and was one of the founder members of the Scottish National Party.

The Neil Gunn Trust first met in 1986 with seven members and a monument was unveiled on the Heights of Brae, Strathpeffer, in October 1987. After the unveiling of the monument, the Trust was asked to assist Ross & Cromarty District Council in the running of a writing competition to be held every two years. 2009 marks the 10th competition which is now run by The Highland Council and the Neil Gunn Trust.
