Fortrose Academy History Club

Fortrose Academy has a successful History Club. Members of the club have been involved in trips to various important sites around Scotland including the Crannog Centre in Perthshire, Fort George, Urquhart Castle and Historic Orkney. This project has been created by six enthusiastic members and it is about our fabulous visit to Orkney. All of the pupils fell in love with the islands and this is their story...

  • Historic Orkney

Pupils learn about prehistoric man and the Celts in S1. Many pupils retain a keen interest in the topic and demonstrate their enthusiasm by joining the school's History Club. The club went on many trips last year, including one to the Crannog Centre in Perthshire. In June a group of twenty pupils from Fortrose visited Orkney. The trip brought sites such as the famous Skara Brae and Maes Howe to life. Other visits included the Ring of Brodgar and a ruined broch in the north of the mainland.
