Welcome to the Highland Sites and Monuments Record (SMR).

The online version of the SMR is available here. It can be searched using the simple or advanced search facility at the top left of the page.

The SMR contains details of approximately 39,000 known archaeological sites and features of all types and periods, from the earliest human use of our landscape to the recent industrial past of the 20th Century. The record is continually updated and expanded, as new information becomes available. The SMR is not suitable for planning, utility, RSS or forestry applications.
