Loch Tay is Perthshire's largest loch, stretching 15 miles long and between 1 and 2 miles wide. It is the main source of the River Tay and is well known for salmon fishing. Some of the largest salmon in Scotland have been caught there.
Loch Tay is fed by two main rivers, the Dochart and the Lochy, which enter the loch at Killin at the west end of the loch. Overlooking the loch are Ben Lawers and Meall Greigh, both Munros.
Taymouth Castle, seat of the Breadalbane Campbells, is close to the loch.
