This photograph shows veteran members of the Armed Forces taking part in the parade to the Northern Meeting Park at Inverness Highland Games 2010.
On 24 July 2010 Inverness Highland Games returned to the Northern Meeting Park after an absence of seventy two years. The move enabled the games to be merged with the city's Armed Forces Day Celebrations and with over 800 additional participants taking part, the new combined event was one of Scotland's largest and most spectacular summer gatherings.
A parade through the city was lead by the Inverness Royal British Legion (Scotland) Pipe Band accompanied by Nairn Pipe Band, The Association Pipe Band, the Cadet Pipe Band, Oban Pipe Band and the Pipes and Drums of 7 SCOTS. Serving soldiers from 3 SCOTS, the 3rd Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Scotland (The Black Watch) and the 7th Battalion the Royal Regiment of Scotland, Territorial Army Infantry Battalion, marched to the Northern Meeting Park with hundreds of veterans and representatives from the Royal Navy, Royal Marine Reserves and RAF Mountain Rescue.
In order to accommodate the crowds arrangements were made for the games to start an hour earlier at 10am. The Solo Piping competitions were held on the lawns outside Eden Court and the Highland Council HQ car park was used to house the Traders Village, Beer Tent, Catering Stalls and Highland Dancing and Traditional Music Areas.
